Temari are hand balls which were used as children’s toys in Japanese homes. Today they are used as decorative gifts at New Year, at a marriage, and to welcome newborn babies.
10 members attended the two-day course, ably led by Kay Smith, a 2022/2023 SWI Evelyn Baxter scholar. They learned the basic technique and tried some basic designs. It was a fascinating two days, and very quiet because everyone was concentrating so much. Many thanks to our wonderful instructor.
