Elma Dickens

I first became a Rural Member at 17yrs, joining Kinettles Rural – I was a member for 4yrs. I then went off to London where I met and married my husband, we have two children.

In 1993 I came home with my family. Our new neighbours introduced themselves over a “cuppie” I was asked would you like to come to “THE RURAL”? I jumped at the chance and have been a member of Northmuir Rural ever since, holding many different posts. At present I am proud to be President. I have also served on the H&H, Federation and Executive Committees.

2019 will be (I HOPE) my 18th year helping at the Federation Show, both on the floor but mainly In the kitchen which I love.

Being the Housewives and Homecrafts Secretary has been such a learning curve into what Rural Life is all about. I now feel I would like to go a step further and become H&H convenor.
