The Homeskills and Handcrafts guild of Angus Federation of SWRI had a very busy and inspiring meeting in Forfar Guide hall, (1st Feb) when Margaret McIldowie, from Westmuir, displayed some of her embroidery handiwork, covering a wide range of techniques, from lacy ‘cut work’ to 3D stump work and most that lie between. Convenor Elma introduced Margaret, reminded members that our federation show in March is drawing near and will feature competition entries from the kitchen, the potting shed and the work basket. Elma appealed for members to volunteer to join the H&H committee and to help with admin of the group. H&H nurtures and supports the many disciplines whch lie at the heart of so much of the enjoyment we derive from our Rural membership, through bringing demonstrators and skills to the forefront of our federation and assisting judges to attain their proficiency. Anyone who could help Elma or is interested in learning more about H&H should contact elmadickensATyahoo.co.uk While most enjoyed a mouthwatering afternoon tea, Margaret was busy judging the day’s competitions. Knitted Toy – 1, Marie Alexander, 2, Elsie Nicoll, 3, Sheila Bruce; Victoria Sponge – 1, Sheila Bruce, 2, Elsie Nicoll, 3, Irene Gilbert; Vice Convener, Sandra Donald thanked Margaret for her encouraging talk and expressed the admiration of the whole audience for the glorious array of Margaret’s extremely skilled work.
